Few-layer graphene and transition metal dichalcogenides

One can obtain atomically thin samples from many ordinary materials, such as graphite or MoS2. With respect to the bulk materials, these few atomic layer thin samples can have unique electronic and optical properties. Moreover, by stacking such atomic layers of different materials one may tailor the properties of the obtained heterostructure.
