Quantum Systems out of Equilibrium

Abstract: In recent years, the various facets of the non-equilibrium behavior of quantum systems has enjoyed an ever increasing attention. This is mainly due to the rapid and spectacular progress in experimental techniques that allow for engineering quantum states and observing their coherent time evolution. It has also revived interest in fundamental questions regarding the relaxation and thermalization of isolated quantum systems that are related to the foundations of statistical physics. After reviewing some of the main ideas in this vast field I discuss some of my works on the out of equilibrium dynamics of one dimensional quantum many-body systems.
