Research topic

Our research deals with the dynamics of integrable quantum systems. One of the central topics of contemporary theoretical physics is many body quantum dynamics. Even though the fundamental quantum mechanical laws are known, strongly interacting systems with many constituents can show exotic collective behaviour. It is important to understand and control the effects of strong interactions, and strong quantum correlations. Our research group investigates the so-called integrable models that can be solved exactly using mathematical tools, without the need for approximations or numerical solutions; such models exist in one space dimension. Our research has connections with experimental physics (recent experiments with ultra-cold atoms), with pure mathematics, and also with other parts of theoretical physics such as the AdS/CFT correspondence.
