Biography:
Gyula M. Szabó is a Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA). He is the Director of the ELTE Gothard Astrophysical Observatory and the head of the MTA-ELTE Exoplanet Research Group. Between 2013-2014, he participated in major research projects as a consortium leader in the "Heaven and Earth" TÁMOP project, and between 2016-2020, in the "Cosmic Impacts and Risks" GINOP project. In 2021, they successfully implemented the "Astronomy and Space Science Open University" Mecenatúra project. From 2022-2026, he leads the "Observation of Exoplanets with the CHEOPS Space Observatory" ESA-ELTE collaboration. He is a member of the CHEOPS Space Telescope Science Team, the Ariel Space Telescope Consortium, and leads one of the scientific programs (searching for moons and double planets) of the PLATO 2.0 space telescope. He is also a member of the LSST Rubin Vera Observatory Solar System Science Consortium, with unlimited data access rights. He has been a senior participant in several OTKA projects.
